Kevin H. Short

General Manager
Director of Business Development

Kevin has had a lifelong career in the entertainment business; he has engineered and produced recordings for RCA/BMG, Smithsonian Folkways, Sierra and Rebel Records. He is a musician and much of his time out of the office is spent on the road with The Reminders where he contributes Bass and Vocals thereminders.net. Kevin has done volunteer work with organizations such as The American Cancer Society and Birthright of Delaware; He is a member of the Finance Community of Calvary Baptist Church in Georgetown, and serves on the artistic board of the Possum Point Players. Serving first as a committee member then later as a committee chair, he has contributed to the nationally recognized Sussex County Return Day Celebration for over 30 years. Kevin is a voting member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (The Grammy People).

Eugene R. Bailey

Senior Systems Technician
Designer/ Integrator

Gino is a native of the Eastern Shore. Graduated in 1987 from Snow Hill High School. He worked at Frontier Town Western Theme Park from 1984 to 1994 as an actor and eventually became the show manager. He attended Towson University as a music major and played trumpet. He played in several of the bands at the school most notably Hank Levy’s Big Band. He transferred to University of Maryland and continued his education in music. While in school he picked up the bass guitar and started the band Blue Junction. Blue Junction played throughout the Mid Atlantic region for several years winning awards from Billboard and Musician Magazine. In 1994, while in the band, Gino recorded his first project at Mid South Audio and was offered a position in the studio as a technician. He is now MSA’s senior technician in both the studio and live production.

Michael R. LeCates

Associate Director of Operations
System Technician/ Designer/ Integrator

Michael is a native of the Eastern Shore. He graduated in 2008 from Parkside High School and in 2012 from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. Michael started in all things audio/visual at the age of 12 volunteering at a local church. In 2007, he joined MSA working part time throughout school and came on full time as a live production technician and service technician after graduation. He was MSA’s technical director for the Joshua M. Freeman Foundation at the Freeman Stage at Bayside from 2011-2016. He now focuses primarily on audio-visual system design and integration and continues to manage live productions all over the shore and beyond.

Maurice E. Hein

Lighting Designer
Physical Assets Manager

Maurice, better known to most of us as Dutch, graduated from Sussex Central High School in 2008. He started working for MSA part time during his senior year. He was very involved in theater in high school and developed a passion for lighting. Shortly after graduating, he came on full time at MSA as our Lighting Director and Shop Manager. He attended CM Hoist School at Mountain Productions in 2012 and is a CM Entertainment Technology Certified Hoist Technician. Dutch has also completed training for Stagemaker hoists and Thomas Engineering Truss.

Caitlin G. Conry

Office Manager

Caitlin was born and raised in Mount Olive, New Jersey. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Writing Arts from Rowan University in 2013 and moved to Lewes, Delaware. Caitlin joined the Mid South Audio team in February 2015 and became the Office Manager in October 2015. She has learned a lot about the audio/video industry and looks forward to increasing her knowledge.

Debbie Short

Director of Human Resources

Debbie began her career in broadcasting, starting in sales then as sales manager and general manager for Great Scott Broadcasting, Baltimore Radio Show and The Green Group. Debbie left broadcasting to pursue a career in human resources. She joined Delaware Health and Social Services as a human resources manager, then worked at the Sussex County Family Court.  She earned an associates in business administration from Delaware Technical Community College. She is a certified Human Resources Professional as recognized by the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM).  In support of the community, Debbie is the founder and president of the Barbara K. Brooks Transition House, Inc., and serves on the board of directors for Sussex County Return Day.  In addition to supporting Delmarva Teen Challenge Men’s recovery program, she is on the advisory board of New Street Men’s Recovery house and a member of TAP Faith. Debbie is a lifelong Methodist and member of Conley’s United Methodist Church.

Austin G. Carter

Systems Technician
Assistant Warehouse Manager

Austin is a Sussex County native from Rehoboth Beach, DE. His introduction to the production industry came before the age of 10 when he started assisting his father on the technical side of various productions ranging from local theater to the Miss Delaware Pageant. This trend continued for many years and in 2009  snowballed into a summer job with Mid South Audio at The Freeman Stage at Bayside. Austin continued working for MSA part time throughout his high school and college years. In the spring of 2016, Austin joined the team as a full-time employee.

Stephen Ganong

Recording Engineer
Studio and production/System technician

Stephen, born in Caroline County, MD, has lived most of his life on the Eastern Shore. During his junior and senior year of high school, he worked part time helping with live productions for MSA. He joined the Mid South team full time in May of 2017, just a few days after graduating Full Sail University with a bachelor’s degree in Show Production and Touring. During his time at school Stephen gained experience in both the recording and live production sides of the Industry.
